TTC Track Reconstruction, Road Reconfiguration and Resurfacing and Streetscaping
Expected Construction Start Date: June 2010
Expected Construction Completion Date: November 2010
As part of the 2010 Capital Works program, the City of Toronto is undertaking TTC track reconstruction, road reconfiguration and resurfacing, and sidewalk replacement work on Roncesvalles Avenue from Queen Street West to Dundas Street West.
Design Details
In general, the work consists of the following:
- reconstruction of the TTC tracks
- reconfiguration of the road to include level-boarding transit platforms and bump-outs for additional public realm space
- replacement of damaged curbs and sidewalks
- road resurfacing
- streetscaping including tree plantings and installation of street furniture
- permanent restoration of all areas impacted by construction
In order to complete the work effectively and in a safe manner, some traffic restrictions such as reduced traffic lanes or temporary road closures will be necessary. As well, access to your driveway may be interrupted from time to time during construction. The contractor will be obligated to notify you of any temporary driveway closures.
Next Steps
This project is currently in the design stage. It is anticipated that construction work will commence in June 2010 and the entire contract is expected to take approximately five months. Normal working hours will generally be from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays, if the need arises. However, night time and extended weekend hours will be required during the TTC track reconstruction phase.
Additional notices will be delivered before construction starts, including notice of contractor, schedule, and other contact requirements for construction purposes.
